On June 1, 2018, Christie Bell & Marshall is proud to celebrate 25 years as an Indianapolis law firm. Partners Kevin Farrell, Lee Christie and Kathy Lee have been practicing plaintiff personal injury law together for more like 34 years, since the early 80’s when they all worked with Buddy Yosha. They didn’t decide to start their own firm until June 1, 1993.
One of the first things the group decided to do different from the offices where they’d worked before was socialize and connect as individuals outside work. For the last 25 years the firm has stayed a family but grown, too. Some of the paralegals and other team members have been supporting the partners since before they started the firm, while other new staff have added to the group’s skill set and efficiency. All along the firm has supported each other in joy, grief, and lots of hard work on behalf of clients, even going on vacations together to relax when needed.
Kevin Farrell says the firm’s long success hasn’t just been about the team’s relationship with each other, but also how they relate to the community around them. “We are one of the only plaintiff personal injury lawyers getting referrals from other top lawyers in Indianapolis,” Farrell said. “I have joked before that the only advertisement our law firm has ever run is in my church bulletin. Otherwise, we’ve let our work speak for itself.” Farrell added that the team always respects their fellow attorneys, even when they are on the opposing side. “We may fight with an insurance company, but their lawyers are advocates just like us, doing their jobs,” he said. This attitude of respect for everyone is part of the foundation of the firm’s lasting success.
